Company description:

Leveraging the machine shop capacity of the Thunder Bay region, Mealgow Ltd manufactures a range of gas plasma sources that are sold internationally in ten different countries to such customers as the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories, and the US Office of Naval Research, among others. Through our international sales continue to grow, we are looking to expand our customer base to a domestic market by expanding our product offering into other areas of use. This includes Plasma and Air sterilization units to battle Covid-19.

 

Youth Eligibility:

Located in Northwestern Ontario

Legally entitled to work in Northwestern Ontario

 

Job Description:

The engineering technician would be helping to build power supplies and equipment enclosures for plasma sources. This work would include design, interaction with local machine shops, oversight of manufacture, assembly, getting certification approval. Other work may involve the conversion of imported UV-C air sterilizers to CSA electrical standards. This will be a learning position and the company is happy to help with training for the right candidate.

 

This program is also part of the Youth Effect program ran through the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre. During the Youth Effect program, the candidate will gain entrepreneurship and leadership training ran through the centre. This is a 15-week job opportunity potentially leading a full-time opportunity.

 

Qualifications: A recent graduate engineer, or final year engineering student with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering. Experience with Solid Works programming would be beneficial, good electrical or mechanical skills, and communication skills.
