Overview:

  • We are looking for an energetic Project Engineer to join RAYSOLAR for a rewarding career in renewable energy (RE). We are offering an excellent opportunity for the right individual to further develop their theoretical and hands-on electrical, mechanical, and electronic skills to contribute to the growth of our business. This position will encompass field and office work, designing, installing, research & development, troubleshooting, technical product support, and sales for our clients. This position requires someone capable of adapting to changing needs, and who learns quickly in order to excel in furthering their responsibilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time & material requirements and availability and identifying possible sources of difficulty in advance.
  • Maintain and manage project schedules by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems; working closely with the project coordinator(s). Oversee all budgets, stock availability, scheduling, and technical design details and their application.
  • Troubleshooting problems as they arise on a project – finding efficient and effective solutions. Decisively selecting the best and most economical solution when deadlines do not permit a full analysis/review. Ability to work under pressure.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards and specifications. Maintaining organizational practices with digital information; on both Local HD & Google Drive.
  • Maintain, manage and enhance  the ‘Project Tracker’
  • Proficient use of 2D CAD software, Google software and MS based application. Strong aptitude with excel is a must.
  • Draft contractual service agreements for partners or clients.
  • Prepare financial, technical and feasibility studies with Renewable Energy technologies
  • Draft detailed design-estimates based on available site information and energy requirements; product familiarity is essential.
  • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals, plans, and design criteria.
  • Perform Site Consultations and meet with clients to discuss project details and timelines.
  • Facilitating all communications with the client(s) before, during, and after installation.
  • Tasking staff with necessary activities that correspond to their role & responsibility; following up as required.
  • Self-motivated to seek out potential issues and resolve them, or bring them to the corresponding department’s attention.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects or given tasks.
  • Monitor the flow of all project related materials.
  • Prepare Purchase Orders.
  • Designing Off-Grid & Grid-Tied Solar Systems given the design criteria and budget.
  • Host the kick-off meeting before the project installation to ensure that all technical design parameters are effectively communicated and implemented by the installer(s).
  • Acquiring necessary quotes/bids for contractors/shipping as required.

 Reviewing projects at major milestones to ensure target budgets will be maintained.

  • Acquiring the necessary technical documents/information from various outside sources as required.
  • Ensure that the project objectives with regards to performance, documentation, quality, schedule, and costs are met for given scope of work.
  • Participate in field installations, preparation of proposals,  business development activities, and financial management of projects; preparing technical reports to emphasise the reasoning for the proposed course(s) of action.

  • Post -secondary graduate (diploma or degree)
  • Excellent computer and design experience with CAD programs
  • Excellent mechanical, electrical aptitude to quickly learn and apply new RE technologies
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of applied construction techniques
  • Comfortable with occasional overnight travel and extended working hours as required
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors
  • Comfortably working outdoors and able to lift 25-55lbs
  • Willing to adapt and learn new skills as the position grows
  • Creative, innovative, solution and process driven with excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise job tasks to ensure timely completeness
  • Basic business accounting principles
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Comfortable interacting and engaging with potential customers, i.e., trade shows, conferences, show room, work sites

  • Previous experience in Renewable Energy or related discipline
  • Marketing, sales and small business experience
  • Previous applied engineering & design experience
  • Hands on carpentry, electrical and mechanical experience
  • Fall arrest training
