Youth Effect 2020

 

Our 4th Youth Effect cohort has come to an end! This year we had 5 companies complete the program in the Thunder Bay region. This year was different than past years due to COVID-19 but everyone adjusted to the changing times.

The projects completed over the 15-week course varied greatly from market research to software development. Below is an overview of each project completed by the youth employee over the program.

 

Radialis Medicial – Tim

Tim worked on system testing and assembly of the newest organ-specific Positron Emission Tomography device. He focused on implementing new software features as well as preparing standard operating procedures and software tools for verification and validation testing.


TBT Engineering – Greg

Greg worked on assisting in spring drain manufacturing and construction preparation; construction inspection; budget tracking; data collection/monitoring and final reporting.


For Users’ Sake – Dilpreet

Dilpreet worked on an innovative platform called Perkspectives which will be launched in the future by For Users’ Sake. He focused on research, planning, design, comparative analysis of the marketplace, and populating surveys.


Thunder Bay Hydraulics – Aayushi

Aayushi worked on research, marketing and development project to expand their products internationally. She focused on researching key findings in studies and working with local marketing companies to build a strategy to enter different markets.


NorthWinds Environmental Services – Mariah

Mariah used her skills in forestry and GIS to help support the Armstrong Forest Management Plan. She helped to create supporting documentation for the plan, generated GIS spatial data for specific plan deliverables, and created a web-based mapping application that helped our team to communicate and collaborate.
